Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
In 2004, the Lakers took Sasha Vujačić, a guard out of Slovenia, with the No. 27 pick in the NBA draft. For most of his six and a half seasons with them, he was a very streaky 3-point shooter who was below-average in every other facet of the game and had a tendency to commit fouls while being overly aggressive defensively.
But during the 2007-08 season, he helped L.A. go from a playoff team to a championship contender with some dead-eye shooting. That season, he averaged 8.8 points a game and shot 43.7% from 3-point range.
L.A. traded Vujačić to the New Jersey Nets midway through the 2010-11 campaign. He spent the following two years with Anadolu Efes in Turkey, played two games with the Clippers during the 2013-14 season and was a member of Reyer Venezia Mestre in Italy and the Spanish team Laboral Kutxa before wrapping up his NBA career with the New York Knicks.
His NBA career terminated following the 2016-17 season, his second with New York. He had a career average of 5.3 points in 15.3 minutes a game and shot 36.7% from 3-point range over 10 seasons.
