HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal boys basketball hosted North Central Missouri Conference rival Moberly on Tuesday evening in their second conference matchup of the season.

The Pirates fought hard, but fell short to Moberly 55-45 in front of the crowd at Korf Gymnasium.

“We gave an outstanding defensive effort against a very good Moberly team,” said Hannibal head coach Josh Pickett. “We were able to limit their shooters and force them into tough contested shots. Turnovers were what really hurt us tonight. We allowed them too many layups off our mental mistakes and you can’t do that against a team like Moberly.”

Hannibal’s Moe Douglas finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, while Darrion Washington chipped in 11 points.

Up next for Hannibal (1-5) is a road game against NCMC rival Mexico (5-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
