The Golden State Warriors have started the season 13-14, and don’t look like NBA championship contenders. In what is largely considered one of the last of Stephen Curry’s productive years, this isn’t acceptable. And Warriors owner Joe Lacob is visibly frustrated.

Fans of the team have been calling for something to change. Jimmy Butler has been criticized, Steve Kerr has been questioned, and the Jonathan Kuminga situation remains unresolved. And Lacob’s concern was made apparent in a recent email exchange with a fan.

After the Warriors lost against the Blazers, a fan, Justin Dutari, wrote to Lacob asking for improvements to be made. NBC Sports reported the story, including Lacob’s reply to the email.

“Please do something about this team,” the fan wrote. “What does Steph need to do every night to win? Drop 50 points? Team needs a real second option. Jimmy’s tools are being underutilized because he is playing as a power forward due to the small position players. We have no true center. I am so frustrated.”

“You can’t be as frustrated as me,” Lacob replied. “I am working on it. It’s complicated. Style of play. Coaches’ desires regarding players. League trends. Jimmy is not the problem.”

There are some interesting insights to be taken here. The coaching staff and players seem to be dealing with some disconnect. Lacob is also clearly unhappy with the way the Warriors are playing. Based on this, it looks like significant changes might just be on the way in Golden State.
