The Boston Celtics are still awaiting the return of Jayson Tatum.

There is no current timetable for his return as Jayson Tatum continues to rehab from a ruptured right Achilles tendon he suffered during the 2025 NBA Playoffs against the New York Knicks.

The Boston Celtics have done a good job of still competing at a high level this season without their superstar Tatum.

The Celtics are 15-11 on the season and are currently in 4th place in the Eastern Conference, just a half game back of 3rd.

Based on the posts Tatum has shared, it seems like he is ahead of schedule and could even return sometime before the playoffs.

Celtics general manager Brad Stevens provided an update on Tatum’s recovery and said he has made great strides.

“Weeks of progressions, right?

“From the standpoint of, you know, scripted against small groups, scripted against bigger groups, scripted in 5 on 5, unscripted, random, all the way up through those.

“But it’s a long progression, and it’s almost like once you hit the strength, then you do your thresholds of a progression of play and then you’re also reconditioning to play real minutes, you know, whatever that looks like.

“He’s obviously made great strides. Right now, we’re still focused on the full strength game.”

The Boston Celtics could be a sleeping giant in the Eastern Conference

If the Celtics remain in a top-4 spot in the East, they could be a huge sleeper team come playoff time.

The Celtics have been led by Jaylen Brown, who has thrived as the team’s No. 1 option.

They have also gotten great production from their supporting cast as players like Jordan Walsh have stepped up.

If the Celtics continue to play well and Tatum miraculously comes back in March or April, the Celtics would have a strong chance at making a deep playoff run.
