The Brooklyn Nets have been stuck in a rebuild for the last handful of seasons and they have once again had a poor start to the 2025-26 NBA season.

Brooklyn currently sits 13th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 7-18 record as they are likely heading towards another season in which they miss the playoffs.

Despite this, the Nets have built a solid core led by Michael Porter Jr., Cam Thomas and Nic Claxton, along with key young players in Egor Demin, Noah Clowney and Danny Wolf.

While the Nets have built a solid young core which could set themselves up better for the future, they are also expected to be extremely active ahead of the trade deadline to add more young talent and draft capital to help with their rebuild.

Brooklyn has already seen multiple players be the subject of trade rumors, though two players continue to stand out in Porter Jr. and Thomas.

On Tuesday, ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater reported that the Nets appear willing to listen to trade offers for Porter Jr. ahead of the trade deadline.

Of course, the Nets acquired Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick from the Denver Nuggets in the offseason in the Cameron Johnson trade and while he has played a key role for Brooklyn this season, it looks as though the Nets may look to move him to add more assets for their rebuild.

This season, the 27-year-old forward is averaging 25.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 39.9% from three.

Porter Jr. has put together a solid season thus far and he could draw interest from multiple teams looking for another key wing scoring option ahead of the trade deadline.

Because of this, Brooklyn may be able to receive a solid trade package in return for the sharpshooting forward if they decide to trade him this season.

The Nets are also reportedly open to moving Thomas this season as the New York Post’s Brian Lewis reported earlier in the week that Brooklyn is looking to trade the young guard ahead of the trade deadline.

Despite this, Lewis also mentioned in his report that there is not a market for Thomas, which could place the Nets in a tough spot with the young guard set to be a free agent next summer after he rejected a two-year, $30 million deal with Brooklyn last offseason.

This season, the 24-year-old guard is averaging 21.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.2% from the field and 35.6% from three, though he has played in only eight games due to a hamstring injury.

Of course, Thomas has proved in the past to be a great scorer, though he does struggle in many other areas, which could be the reason why he does not have a market.

Either way, it appears as though the Nets are preparing to make some major moves ahead of the trade deadline to add more assets for their rebuild, which could see two of their top players get moved this season.
