AUSTIN, Texas — NBA great and Longhorn legend Kevin Durant is entering the hospitality business with a new dining concept in the capital city.
The restaurant, dubbed Austin Sports Club, is a collaboration between Durant and Rich Kleinman’s Boardroom Hospitality, Lobos Hospitality (known for popular spots like Toasty Badger on South Congress, and Manny’s and The Powder Room downtown) and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, the San Antonio Express-News reports.
Austin Sports Club is slated to be located downtown at 205 East Third St. across the street from J-Prime Steakhouse.
According to a description on Lobos Hospitality’s website, ASC’s culinary identity is “rooted in elevated comfort, global influence, bold flavors, and sports-driven storytelling.” The group describes it as a blend of luxury dining and immersive sports culture.
While the menu is still in development, applications are open for the positions of bar manager, sous chef and executive sous chef.
Though Durant is currently with the Houston Rockets, the former University of Texas at Austin superstar has made contributions in his former city, including a $3 million donation to the university’s basketball program.
