NEW YORK — As the Philadelphia 76ers get set to take on the New York Knicks on Friday on the road, they will have to do so missing some key pieces. While Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford were already ruled out with their respective injuries, they will be joined by the star big man.
Joel Embiid was originally listed as questionable for this contest against the Knicks due to an illness. He was at shootaround on Friday morning at Madison Square Garden, but he has since been downgraded to out due to both an illness and right knee injury management.

When considering this is the first night of a back-to-back–the Sixers will host the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday–it makes sense not to push Embiid against a physical Knicks team.
The Sixers will look to pick up a win over a Knicks team on the second night of a back-to-back. They earned a tough win over the Indiana Pacers on the road on Thursday night.
Tip off from The Garden is set for 7 p.m. EST.
