KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Legendary Tennessee basketball VFL Kank Bertelkamp passed away on Friday at the age of 94.
Bertelkamp was a three-time letter winner at Tennessee, playing for the Volunteers from 1950-53.
Hank’s son Bert would play for the Volunteers from 1976-80, appearing in 110 games before becoming a part of the Vol Network as a radio analyst for 26 seasons. He retired following the 2024-25 season.
Hank and Bert established the Bertelkamp Basketball Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2004. Bishop Boswell is the recipient of the endowment in 2025-26.
The Men’s Basketball offices at Food City Center were named in Hank Bertelkamp’s honor in 2011.
