It was Friday Night Hoops in L-L League girls basketball action. There were seven games on the schedule. One was postponed because of that wicked windstorm that howled through here Friday. Section showdowns highlighted the slate. Here’s the roundup, with some notables:
SECTION 2
Elizabethtown 58, Garden Spot 52 — The host Bears snapped their 4-game slide, closing the game on a rip-roaring 23-13 blitz to rally past the Spartans. Chloe Wilkinson (season-high 22 points), Elleyana Handran (season-high 14 points) and Caitlyn McCoach (season-high 11 points) showed the way for E-town, which was outscored 10-4 in the third quarter and trailed 39-35 heading into the fourth. Laina Steiner (19 points), Leah Kurtz (season-high 10 points) and Katie Hoffman (season-high 10 points) paced Garden Spot.
Solanco at Conestoga Valley, PPD — The Golden Mules and the Buckskins did not play Thursday because those high winds knocked the power out at CV. No makeup date to report. Stay tuned.Â
Also in Section 2, the 3-way tie at the top was snapped when Warwick remained hot compliments of a 52-43 victory over Cocalico, which had its 6-game winning tear halted. Brian Markley with the story from Denver:Â Â
SECTION 3
Lampeter-Strasburg 56, Donegal 26 — The Pioneers roared to a 20-0 first-quarter lead, were up 33-11 at the break, and then eased past the host Indians to remain atop the section hunt. Carla Mann (season-high 12 points) and Elaina Hostetter (10 points) keyed L-S; Paige Umble scored 8 points for Donegal.Â
Manheim Central 29, Elco 18 — The Barons used a 6-0 second-quarter clip for a 16-4 lead at the half, and then opened up some breathing room with a 10-5 third-quarter spurt to remain with L-S in the lead pack. Gianna Walters scored 8 points to lead Central’s balanced attack; Kenzie Eckhart scored 5 points for the host Raiders.Â
NONLEAGUE
Octorara 52, Chichester 25 — The Braves gassed up the bus and made the trip to Boothwyn in Delaware County, and headed home with a win. Ali Matys (season-high 19 points) and Jolee Johnson (13 points) paced Octorara, which had a cozy 30-16 lead at the half, and then outscored the host Eagles 11-0 in the third quarter to seal the deal.Â
In another Section 3 game on Friday, Lancaster Catholic was spurred on by the return of a key senior player in its win over rival Northern Lebanon. More about said player, plus a photo gallery:Â

* Not a misprint: Pequea Valley is playing two games in Brandywine Heights’ holiday event. When a fourth team backed out, the hosts had to rearrange the schedule, and the Braves drew two games in one day; heck, two games in three hours. … Everything else is in the early afternoon, so it will be a quick day of (nonleague) hoops on Saturday.Â
