NBA insider Chris Haynes on Nets center Nic Claxton being a trade target of the Warriors:

Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton has been having a great season for the Nets and at this rate, it could be the best season of his career if he maintains his production. While Brooklyn is benefitting from the fact that Claxton has been playing the best basketball of his career, that also makes him a trade target of other teams looking to add a starting-level center.
“The [Golden State} Warriors are buyers in a similar way. I was told they’re looking for size and athleticism. You look at the Warriors’ rebounding and blocked shots, they’re in the bottom half of the league,” NBA insider Chris Haynes said during an appearance on the NBA on Prime broadcast. Haynes noted that the Warriors are one team looking for more size in the middle and that could be why Claxton’s name has come up on conversations.
“They’re looking for an athletic center and sources have relayed to me that a list of targets are Daniel Gafford, Nic Claxton, and Robert Williams,” Haynes continued. Claxton, 26, is averaging 13.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 56.4% from the field and 69.3% from the free-throw line, with the points, assists, and free-throw percentage being career-highs if all of those numbers hold.
As of this writing, there haven’t been any reports of Claxton being available in a trade from the Nets, but that won’t stop other teams from pursuing the former Georgia Bulldog. For a team like the Warriors, Claxton would undoubtedly be the starting center next to Draymond Green and that could give Golden State a big man that can contribute on both ends of the floor.
Claxton is in the second season of a four-year, $97 million contract that he signed last offseason, meaning that the Warriors would essentially get his services for the next 2-and-a-half years at fairly-good value. Time will tell if Brooklyn puts Claxton on the open market and that could depend on what opposing teams are willing to give them in exchange for the athletic center.
