The Brooklyn Nets are in the midst of another rebuilding season that could end with the team posting another poor record and being rewarded with a high pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Prior to that point, Brooklyn will have to decide which moves they can make before the trade deadline in February, but it seems that they are not interested in trading for a certain young player.

“The Brooklyn Nets, who were speculated by some at times to have interest in Kuminga, never showed much interest in the 6-foot-7 forward,” HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto wrote on Thursday. Scotto was communicating in his article that while Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga could be available via trade prior to the deadline, the Nets aren’t one of the teams particularly interested in him.

This report follows what Scotto said during the offseason when he said that he didn’t see Brooklyn trading for Kuminga, even when it seemed that he could be available during the season. Kuminga, 23, is averaging 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 32.0% from three-point land in 17 games played for the Warriors.

“I mean, look, I Brooklyn. I don’t see just because I know some people maybe have mentioned Brooklyn, I don’t see that ultimately, from every from my sources and whatnot,” Scotto said of Kuminga during his appearance on “The Allen Stiles Show” as part of Sactown Sports 1140. What probably makes Kuminga seems less interesting as a trade candidate is due to the fact that he has been out of Golden State’s rotation for the past three games.

The Nets will most likely consider exploring the trade market, especially if forward Michael Porter Jr. continues to play as well as he is and helps Brooklyn win more games than is necessary for this rebuild. Depending on what the Warriors would want in a trade involving Kuminga, Nets general manager Sean Marks could entertain those conversations, but as of now, it seems like the team is focused on other matters in the trade market.
