The Memphis Grizzlies used a brand new starting lineup on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center on Dec. 17.
Memphis didn’t have Ja Morant or Cam Spencer, both of whom had played in the previous game, a 121-103 win Dec. 15 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Other players needed to step up. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jock Landale took over: Both frontcourt players recorded their first double-doubles of the season in the win against the Timberwolves.
Jackson led the Grizzlies (13-14) with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Landale added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon Clarke made his season debut and immediately joined the starting lineup. He finished with six points and three rebounds.
Minnesota (17-10) did not have star guard Anthony Edwards due to a foot injury. Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with 21 points.
The Grizzlies will be back in action on Dec. 20 against the Washington Wizards (7 p.m. CT, FanDuel Sports Network) at FedExForum.

Memphis is wasting no time getting Brandon Clarke involved. He’ll join Jaylen Wells, Cedric Coward, Santi Aldama and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the starting lineup.
The Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a left ankle sprain. Memphis will have Brandon Clarke available to make his season debut.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will also miss the matchup.
