Katrina And The Waves aren’t the only ones “Walking On Sunshine.” The Santa Cruz Warriors were feeling pretty good after winning again in the Sunshine State on Sunday.

Golden State two-way forward Malevy Leons had 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists, and Santa Cruz beat the Noblesville Boom 108-100 to wrap up action at the NBA G League Winter Showcase at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Leons gave Santa Cruz the lead for good with his dunk with 4:08 left, which helped the Warriors close with a 12-4 run.

After posting a 1-13 record in the Tip-Off Tournament to begin the 2025-26 season, the Warriors (2-0) have their first win streak and are unbeaten two games into the regular-season. They stomped the Delaware Blue Coats 143-119 on Friday.

Santa Cruz shot 47.1% from the field (40 of 85), made 16 3-pointers, and outrebounded the Boom 54-36 to help offset their 26 turnovers.

Center Marques Bolden had 11 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks, good for his second double-double of the regular season. Guard Taevion Kinsey added 13 points and six assists, and guard Trey Galloway scored 14 points off the bench.

Warriors guard Chance McMillan finished had 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists after coming off the bench. Forward Ja’Vier Francis added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Forward Gabe McGlothan came off the bench and recorded a game-high 25 points, nine rebounds, and three steals for the Boom (1-1). Guard Kyle Guy and guard Au’Diese Toney each had 16 points and three steals. Forward Jalen Slawson had 13 points and five rebounds, and guard Steven Ashworth finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Guard Cameron Hildreth also scored 11 points.

The Warriors return to Santa Cruz for a two-game set against the Osceola Magic (0-1) beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. The teams will play again Sunday at 6 p.m.

Men’s basketball

At USC 102, UC Santa Cruz 63: Junior guard Aidan Carleson produced a team-high 13 points and three steals in 20 minutes off the bench, but the NCAA Division III Banana Slugs team suffered a lopsided loss to the D-I Trojans in front of 4,575 fans at Galen Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Trojans Head Coach Eric Musselman picked up his 250th career win.

It was the first meeting between the programs.

Freshman guard Thomas Conley had 11 points and two rebounds for the Banana Slugs (6-7), who trailed 45-26 at the half. Sophomore guard Ben Lim scored eight points, and freshman guard Jaden Gamez, senior forward Leo Wagner, and junior wing Miles Burrows each scored six points.

USC had a massive height advantage and dominated on the boards. The Trojans outrebounded UCSC 53-15, produced 23 second-chance points, and scored 74 points in the paint.

Gabe Dynes, a 7-foot-5, 215-pound junior center, had 16 points, five rebounds, and four blocks to lead USC (12-1). Graduate guard/forward Chad Baker-Mazara and senior forward Ezra Ausar each scored 15 points, and sophomore forward Jacob Cofie added 14 points.

UCSC at Puget Sound (5-3) in Tacoma, Washington, on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Women’s basketball

UCSC 68, at Pacific Lutheran 60: Junior forward Sarah Reuter had 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds to help the Banana Slugs secure victory in Parkland, Washington, on Sunday.

Sophomore guard Emilie Ngo and junior guard Alyssa Jackson each scored 11 points for the Banana Slugs (7-8). Ngo also had six assists and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Danielle Tyner had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Lilli Williams had 20 points and three steals to lead the Lutes (1-7).

UCSC heads on a three-game road trip to Massachusetts. The Banana Slugs face UMass Dartmouth in Wellesley on Dec 29 at 3 p.m., Babson in Wellesley on Dec. 30 at 5 p.m., and MIT in Cambridge on Jan. 2 at 1 p.m.

Boys wrestling

Lynn Dyche Classic: Watsonville High’s Daniel Gonzalez-Avila (113 pounds) and Kaiden Pena (150) took first place in their respective weight divisions at the 11-team Lynn Dyche Classic at James Lick High on Saturday.

The Wildcatz’s Mark Flores-Ortiz (165) and Brody Barto (215) also reached finals. Jayden Ayala (138) and Angel Barragan Marquez (165) earned third-place finishes.
