With Devin Booker’s second signature sneaker, the Nike Book 2, set to debut at retail in just a matter of days, the Phoenix Suns star is already beginning to tease new versions of the sequel shoe.
Although the Suns suffered a narrow 116-119 loss to the Golden State Warriors Saturday, Booker had an impressive showing with 38 points and five assists. On foot, he wore a previously unseen Suns-themed version of the new Book 2 sneaker. The pair follows the Air Zoom Spiridon inspiration seen on other colorways of the Book 2, right down to its predominantly mesh upper, glossy metallic Swoosh and textile mudguard.
While the white, purple and orange pair worn by Booker isn’t yet confirmed to be released, fans can expect a chance to purchase similar looks at retail. A Nike Book 2 colored in the Air Zoom Spiridon’s original silver-and-red style is set to be released in February.
The Book 2 was revealed in November and continues the line’s theme of finding inspiration in retro Nike sneakers, as well as classic cars. The model was designed with an emphasis on providing a low-to-the-ground feel and like the Book 1, is somewhat modest from a glance, hiding its performance tech within. Along with the Spiridon-inspired webbed mesh build seen here, the Book 2 also comes in a molded upper variation.
At a November Nike event, Booker told members of the media that he wants each iteration of his sneakers to carry a unique meaning. “I didn’t want any shoe to just be the red-and-white shoe or the green-and-orange shoe,” Booker said. “I wanted each one to represent something from my life, something from Phoenix…With so many colorways, you just keep digging deeper. Now I have more stories to tell on the Book 2.”

Booker’s second sneaker will be accompanied by an apparel collection made up of eight items featuring a sun-faded appearance inspired by the NBA star’s time in Phoenix.
Kimberly Mack, vice president of sport apparel at Nike, touted the versatility of the clothing. “You can hoop in it, you can warm up, you can be on the court,” Mack said. “But then you can also just wear it out and be in the street, and everything has the right amount of style and represents Devin and his style.”
The Nike Book 2 will be released in its black-based “Rising” colorway on Jan. 2 for $145 from nike.com and select Nike Basketball retailers.
