Points flew like fireworks in a high-scoring display as the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks combined for 302 on Sunday, with the Bulls edging out a 152-150 win. The victory gave Chicago their third straight and brought their record to 13-15. After just the first half, Bulls forward Matas Buzelis admitted he was stunned by the offensive showcase, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic.

“I looked at it at halftime, and it was 83 points, it was crazy,” said the 21-year-old.

Buzelis led the Bulls with 28 points, including seven three-pointers, and added three rebounds. Eight other Chicago players reached double figures, with Coby White contributing 21 points and five assists while playing through an ankle injury.

Josh Giddey recorded 19 points and 12 assists, while Kevin Huerter added 16 points and five assists. Isaac Okoro contributed 14 points, and Nikola Vucevic finished with 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Ayo Dosunmu also scored 13, Tre Jones had 11 points with five assists and three rebounds, and Zach Collins chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Buzelis is currently averaging 14.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

The two teams will face off again in Atlanta on Tuesday. Following that, the Bulls visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 26, take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on the 28th, and wrap up the year against the New Orleans Pelicans on the 31st.

Onyeka Okongwu led Atlanta with 23 points, while Vit Krejci contributed 20. Trae Young made his second start in three games after missing 21 contests with a right MCL sprain.

On Dec. 13, 1983, the Detroit Pistons beat the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in overtime, combining for 370 points. On Nov. 2, 1990, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets 162-158, totaling 320 points.

Ironically, on March 1, 1990, the Bulls overcame the Hawks 168-161 in four overtimes for 329 points. More recently, on Feb. 24, 2023, the Sacramento Kings edged the LA Clippers 176-175 in double overtime, combining for 351 points.
