The Washington Wizards start to the regular season has brought an abundance of disappointment to a fanbase who’s frustrations have began to boil over.

In what many hoped could be a step in the right direction for both the Wizards organization and their young core this season, not only has their abysmal record caused sign of concern, but the regression for key players such as Bub Carrington have only added to the fear that the Wizards may not be headed in the right direction after all.

Carrington entered the season poised to prove he could be the team’s answer at the point guard position for years to come after an impressive rookie season with the Wizards.

Following the departure of Jordan Poole in the offseason and the front office’s lack of motivation to briing in additional point guard helped, it seemed like the Wizards brass was all in on the hope that the former lottery pick could be the team’s long-term solution after all.

However, after a bizarre start to the season, averaging 6.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting 33.6% from field goal range, all hope seemed to be lost.

Fortunately, Carrington has seemed to finally turn things around and instill confidence in a fanbase that began to grow concerned.

Bub Carrington looks like a completely different player

In the last six games, Carrington has completely turned the outlook of his season around in a major way.

Not only has the Pittsburgh product shot his way out of a shooting slump that totally restricted his start to the season, but the playmaker has slowly but surely seemed to grow his confidence over the recent stretch.

Averaging 17 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting 49.3% from field goal range, Carrington looks like a completely different player.

In fact, the guard’s turnaround has him looking like the player the Wizards drafted him to be.

At the same time, Carrington still has a ways to go in his development if he hopes to prove he can be the Wizards long-term answer at the point guard position.

Nonetheless, his turnaround adds confidence that he very well could be that player after all, which alone is a win considering where things stood regarding the outlook of his future after a terrible start to the season.

Moving forward, Carrington has the chance to continue proving the Wizards made the right selection after all in last offseason’s NBA Draft.
