Despite the absence of All-Star Jalen Williams for 19 games, the start of the NBA season has proved to be a victory lap for the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
Led by reigning league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder have dominated opponents by an average of 15 points and are currently on pace to break the single-season record of 73 wins set by the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors.
With plenty of basketball left to play, the Spurs continue to exceed expectations heading into Tuesday night’s game with OKC.
San Antonio weathered the Western Conference storm without Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama.
With Area 51 sidelined, it’s been a group effort for San Antonio with veterans De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes flourishing on the offensive end. The duo combined for 60 points in a recent 119-126 win against the Memphis Grizzlies at home.
“I think everyone has had an opportunity to come in and impact winning and I think that’s going to be a driving force for us the rest of the season,” Barnes told reporters after leading all scorers with 31 points.
