The Miami Heat could be in for an active trade season ahead of the deadline, and Cleveland Cavaliers forward De’Andre Hunter may be a target.
The Heat are expected to be suitors for Hunter if he becomes available, according to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.Â
“Should Hunter hit the trade block and the Cavs want to unload his salary, keep an eye on teams like the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks — all of whom are in need of more help on the wing,” Siegel wrote.
The Cavaliers have had a disappointing start to the season. They’re seventh in the Eastern Conference at 17-14 after winning 64 games last season. Other teams are starting to ask about the availability of Cleveland’s top players as a result.
“De’Andre Hunter’s future has suddenly become a key talking point regarding potential changes the Cavs will explore.”Â

Hunter is averaging 15.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists a night this season. He’s had a slow shooting start, as he’s making just 31.1% from three. His role with Cleveland has fluctuated this season, causing chatter about his future with the team.
“Hunter was recently taken out of the starting lineup by head coach Kenny Atkinson, and his $23.3 million contract for this season gives this team a path to making a change as a second-apron organization.”
Hunter, who’s been known as one of the NBA’s top defenders, could be a great fit in South Beach. The Heat will be a team to watch if Hunter’s trade talks grow louder.
