While New York Knicks fans would be in favor of Donte DiVincenzo’s return to the team this season, a new report pours ice water on the recent trade rumors.

Over the last few weeks, the Knicks have been, arguably, the hottest team in the NBA. They recently won seven straight, and it included wins over the Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs en route to winning the 2025 edition of the Emirates NBA Cup. The roster put together by Leon Rose and now overseen by Mike Brown is hitting on all cylinders.

It has created a lot of speculation that New York is really the best team in the conference despite being behind the Detroit Pistons in the standings. But getting to the NBA Finals and beating one of the powerhouse teams from the West won’t be easy, so adding more talent for the second half and postseason is a reported goal for the front office before February’s trade deadline.

Different rumors have swirled around the Knicks in recent days. However, one in particular has excited many fans, and that is about the team possibly making a deal to bring fan-favorite Donte DiVincenzo back to Gotham.

NY Knicks Insider Shuts Down Donte DiVincenzo Trade Rumors

The Delaware native and three-point ace was a beloved member of the roster during his lone season in New York, as he reunited with former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. Two summers ago, he was part of the blockbuster deal that brought Karl-Anthony Towns to New York, and his departure has bothered fans ever since.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely at the moment that he will be brought back to the team in a trade this season. According to SNY Knicks insider Ian Begley, “Both sides are kind of downplaying the possibility of it” and “Neither side sees it as a realistic endpoint right now.”

It doesn’t mean the NY Knicks won’t change their minds on a potential trade, but as of now, it seems like a long shot.
