Willie Geist is spending some quality time with his daughter as she returns home for winter break.
The Sunday Today anchor, 50, shared a rare snap on Instagram with his daughter Lucie, 18, on Sunday, Dec. 21, as the duo attended the New York Knicks game against the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden.
“Family night and a big @NYKnicks W at @TheGarden! @JalenBrunson1 hung 47 on the Heat and the building was on fire. It’s always a thrill to be a part of the magic at MSG,” Geist captioned his selfie with Lucie.
In the sweet snap, Geist smiles as he sits next to his daughter, who holds up a peace sign and sports a New York Knicks trucker hat.

The father-daughter outing comes a few months after Geist and his wife Christina dropped off Lucie for her freshman year of college.
The journalist appeared on a Tuesday, Sept. 2 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends and shared that while he’d anticipated the move-in experience to be very emotional, he ended up feeling very happy for his daughter.
“About two and a half weeks ago, I dropped my daughter Lucie off at college, which was a moment. Here’s my headline: It’s gone much better than we thought it would,” Geist shared.
“And the reason it’s gone much better than we thought it would — of course, it was sad in the moment when we said goodbye, but because she is so happy and we realized she is so ready,” he continued. “And you realize all that you’ve poured into this person for 18 years is now paying off, and she can handle herself. And she’s happy and she’s good.”
Geist said that while their hug with their daughter was “a little teary,” it was, all in all, a beautiful moment for their family.
“A mutual friend of ours once told me when you drop them off at college, if they don’t look back, you’ve done it right,” Geist said. “And so she asked away and maybe gave a little [look back] but then she just kind of hopped up the stairs and went on to this new chapter. And she’s doing great. So it was beautiful.”
In addition to Lucie, Geist and Christina are also parents to 16-year-old son George.
