Evan Mobley sustained a calf injury a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like he is ready to return. Ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ Christmas Day game against the New York Knicks, Mobley is listed as “Questionable”, which could mean he might be able to play.
Without Mobley, the Cavaliers lost to the Charlotte Hornets and lost twice against the Chicago Bulls. While the Cavs got payback against the Hornets and blew out the New Orleans Pelicans, they still need a healthy lineup, which is why Mobley’s potential return will be significant.
Mobley is known for returning sooner than expected
After missing the last five games for the Cavs, Mobley was initially set to miss two to four weeks. Christmas Day will be 13 days since the calf tightness popped up, so Mobley is way ahead of schedule.
While he is listed as questionable, many Cavs fans are a bit uneasy with his quick return. Calf injuries have been a problem in recent years in the NBA because they are the injury that could lead to a torn Achilles tendon.Â

Across Mobley’s career, he has beaten the typical return-to-play timelines. The Inside Shot’s Danny Cunningham noted that Mobley is a fast healer, and this potential return from his calf injury is a good example of this.
The Cavaliers are playing against the Knicks on Christmas Day, which will be one of the biggest games of the season. Cleveland and New York were the favorites ahead of the season, but only the latter has met expectations.
With Mobley possibly joining the team on Christmas Day, the Cavaliers could pull off a surprise upset against the second-seeded Knicks. The Cavaliers are sitting in the seventh seed, but they could be a much better team if they start on a huge run by beating the Knicks.
