According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Brooklyn Nets are listening to trade pitches for Michael Porter Jr.
The Nets acquired Porter Jr. from the Denver Nuggets this past offseason.
“We know Brooklyn is willing to listen to pitches on the bulk of their veteran players — including Michael Porter Jr. — while remaining eager, league sources say, to play facilitator in multi-team trade constructs that set them up to turn unused salary cap space from the summer into draft capital,” Fischer wrote.
Porter Jr. is making $38.3 million this season. He’s averaging 25.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49.3% from the field, 40.0% from beyond the arc and 82.2% from the free-throw line.
MPJ is better suited to play for a playoff team, as the Nets are in rebuild mode.
Porter Jr. has career averages of 16.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game with the Nuggets and Nets. He won the 2023 championship with Denver.
