The Spurs have won the first two meetings this season, first in Las Vegas in the semifinals of the NBA Cup, and then on Tuesday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. In both matchups, Victor Wembanyama came off the bench and played less than half the game, but still had a massive impact. In the first meeting he had 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal as the Spurs ended a 16-game winning streak for the Thunder. And then on Tuesday, while Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes and Keldon Johnson shouldered the scoring burden, De’Aaron Fox and Wembanayma had the best plus-minus numbers at +18 and +13, respectively.

While San Antonio moved to 22-7 with that win and improved their winning streak to seven, the longest active steak in the league, Oklahoma City moved to 26-4. The team has alternated losses and wins since the first meeting with the Spurs, but the Thunder are still undefated at home despite this sudden influx of defeats. Last time out, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 33 points and eight assists while Jalen Williams went for 17 points and eight assists and six rebounds. Luguentz Dort had 15 points, and Kenrich Williams led the bench with 10, but Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein had just 15 points combined and 15 rebounds, with Hartenstein collecting 12 of those boards.
