Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić is trending in the right direction for the team’s Christmas Day game against the Houston Rockets.

Dončić was upgraded to probable on Thursday afternoon as the Lakers try to end their two-game skid.

Dončić suffered a calf contusion during the Lakers’ Dec. 20 loss to the L.A. Clippers and sat out Tuesday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, but there was optimism he would return against the Rockets.

The guard also missed time early in the season because of a left finger sprain and lower left leg contusion.

When healthy, Dončić is on the short list of the best players in the league who can take over any game at a moment’s notice.

Even with the legendary LeBron James on the roster, Dončić drives the Lakers’ offense as the primary ballhandler and playmaker. He is averaging 34.1 points, 8.8 assists, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field this season.
