On Thursday afternoon, the Cleveland Cavs will hit the floor on the road for a Christmas Day game against the New York Knicks. The Cavs have been struggling in recent weeks, currently sitting below the play-in line in the Eastern Conference, but are hoping that this Christmas game will provide them with an opportunity to pick up a momentum-building win and turn their season around.
Evan Mobley has been out of the lineup in recent games for the Cavs with a calf strain, with many doubting whether he would be able to give it a go for the game against New York. However, shortly before tip-off on Thursday, the team got a positive update on his status for the game.
“Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Evan Mobley (calf strain) will return to action Christmas Day against the New York Knicks (12 pm ET, ABC/ESPN), per sources. Mobley, who has been out 13 days, is averaging career highs 19.1 points and 4.1 assists to go with 9.3 rebounds per game,” reported NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
The Cavs will certainly love to have Mobley back in action against a Knicks team that has been red-hot in recent weeks, creeping up on the Detroit Pistons for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

Mobley will be especially needed considering the prevalence of Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns, who recently scored 40 points in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In any case, the Cavs and Knicks are slated to tip off at 12:00 pm ET.
