The Miami Heat have had a solid start to the NBA season as they currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15-15 record.
Unfortunately for Miami, they have hit a rough stretch as of recent as they have dropped three consecutive games and eight of their last 10.

Despite this, the Heat have built a solid core led by Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins, along with key young players in Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis and Jaime Jaquez Jr.
While the Heat have built a solid core, they are still in need of upgrades in some key areas on their roster and they may look to address them ahead of the trade deadline to better their roster and make a run at a top seed in the East.
Heat Could Target Grizzlies’ Ja Morant to Address Point Guard Need
Of course, Miami’s main area of need is at the point guard position and they may look to add one ahead of the trade deadline to pair alongside Herro in the backcourt.

One player the Heat have been linked to this season is Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, who has been in trade rumors ever since he was suspended one game earlier this season after getting into a heated exchange with head coach Tuomas Iisalo.
Because of this, the Heat may target the star guard ahead of the trade deadline to fill their need at the point guard position.
Mock Trade Sends Ja Morant to Heat, Andrew Wiggins to Grizzlies
In a potential trade, the Heat could send a package of Wiggins, Nikola Jovic and draft capital to the Grizzlies in exchange for Morant.

Of course, Morant’s trade value has taken a massive hit over the past few seasons due to his injury history and off-court issues, which could allow Miami to acquire him at a low price.
For Morant, he would provide the Heat with an elite scorer and playmaker alongside Herro in the backcourt who would also give them a star point guard they have been in desperate need of over the past few seasons.

This season, the 26-year-old guard is averaging 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 35.7% from the field and 19.4% from three.

Morant has had a down season production-wise and he has also struggled to stay healthy as he has played in only 14 games this season.
Despite this, a change of scenery for the star guard may be exactly what he needs at this point in his career, especially if he was to go to a team like the Heat who have built one of the best cultures in the NBA.

Because of this, Morant could become a key piece to Miami’s future alongside Herro and Adebayo while also giving them another star player to chase a top seed in the East this season and try to make a deep playoff run.

While this trade could work out well for the Heat, they may also elect to hold off on this deal due to Morant’s injury history and off-court issues as they could look elsewhere to upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
