NBA New Year’s resolutions

We’re handing out New Year’s resolutions for teams and players across the NBA.

After four NBA games this Christmas, the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets will be the finale. Each of these teams was eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs a year ago. Now, each of them is looking for another deep playoff run.

The Timberwolves played on Christmas Day last year, defeating the Dallas Mavericks, 105-99. Historically though, the T-Wolves have not been a very jolly squad. Prior to 2024, they’d only played on Christmas Day twice in team history (2016, 2017). Minnesota has an all-time record of 2-1 on Christmas and now face a Denver team that is playing their fourth straight Christmas game.

Denver might have lost on Christmas a year ago, falling to the Phoenix Suns, 110-100. But they have done well in years past, winning in both 2022 and 2023. Denver’s first Christmas Day game came all the way back in 1949, a 76-72 loss to the Sheboygan Red Skins. Since then, the holiday has not been kind to Denver. They’ve played on Christmas 11 times in franchise history, boasting a 3-8 record.

Here’s how to watch this holly jolly showdown between two Western Conference powerhouses:
