MIAMI — The Miami Heat injury report continues to remain a somewhat complex puzzle, which again is the case for Friday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena.
While Tyler Herro again is listed as out with a toe contusion, center Bam Adebayo has surfaced on the team’s injury report due to lower back pain.
However, all is not uncertain, with Pelle Larsson, and Nikola Jovic seemingly on the verge of returns.
For Herro, Friday will mark the eighth game he will miss due to his toe issue, including the sixth in a row due to the ailment. He last played in the Dec. 9 NBA Cup road loss to the Orlando Magic.
In all, Herro has appeared in only six of the Heat’s 30 games, after missing the first 17 following September ankle surgery. Since Dec. 3, he has appeared in just two games.
Herro’s injury is not believed to be turf toe, having undergone a pair of MRIs on his right big toe. The Heat are 3-3 in his appearances.
Adebayo is listed as questionable for Friday night, with this the first time he has been listed with lower-back soreness.
Adebayo’s only absence this season was during a six-game span in November, due to a sprained left big toe. The Heat went 4-2 in those six games.
Meanwhile, Larsson is listed as probable with the sprained left ankle that has had him out the past five games, with the Heat 1-4 in those games. Larsson’s only other absence this season was when he missed the Dec. 6 home loss to the Sacramento Kings due to tightness in his right hip flexor.
Jovic also has been upgraded to probable, after missing the past four games with an elbow contusion sustained in the Nov. 9 home loss to the Toronto Raptors. He has missed 11 games this season, including being held out three times due to coach’s decision.
In addition, seldom-used second-year forward Keshad Johnson is listed as questionable, due to illness.
The Heat also have returned center Vlad Goldin and guard Jahmir Young, who both are on two-way contracts, to the G League.
On the injury report but listed as available are Kasparas Jakucionis (ankle), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (calf), Davion Mitchell (ankle), Dru Smith (ankle) and Andrew Wiggins (back).
That is with Terry Rozier, who is away from the team, again listed as out as he remains on NBA leave amid the ongoing FBI gambling investigation.
The only Heat players not on the injury report are center Kel’el Ware, forward Simone Fontecchio, guard Norman Powell and two-way player Myron Gardner.
Friday night’s game in Atlanta opens a back-to-back set that concludes Saturday night against the Indiana Pacers at Kaseya Center.
