The Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz met for the second time this season. Once again, the two foes combined for more than 250 points. An offensive battle came down to the final minutes.
In their previous matchup, on Dec. 12, the Grizzlies lost. This time, they got a career high-tying 37 points from Santi Aldama in a 137-128 win on Dec. 23 at Delta Center.
Memphis finished with 41 assists, the second time it has topped 40 assists this season. Before this, the Grizzlies (14-16) hadn’t reached 40 assists since April 2022.
Cam Spencer led the way with a career-high 13 assists, and had 11 points for his second career double-double.
This was Aldama’s second game with 30 or more points this season. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 21 points and GG Jackson had 18 points in his first start of the season in place of an injured Cedric Coward.
Utah (10-19) was led by guard Keyonte George, who finished with 24 points. He had 39 points in the previous game against the Grizzlies.
Memphis will be back in action on Dec. 26 against the Milwaukee Bucks (7 p.m. CT, FanDuel Sports Network) at FedExForum.

Utah is hanging around in part because of its ability to get to the free-throw line. The Jazz have attempted 20 free throws to the Grizzlies’ 11.
