The Philadelphia 76ers have had a solid season thus far as they currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 16-12 record.
Of course, there were many questions entering the season for the 76ers due to injuries to both Joel Embiid and Paul George, though they were able to start the season off strong without two of their stars thanks to the rest of their core led by Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe.

Now with both Embiid and George back from injury, Philadelphia has proved to be one of the top teams in the East this season and they look like they are going to be a threat as long as their roster is able to stay healthy, which has been an issue for them over the past few seasons.
Philadelphia may also elect to make some upgrades to their roster ahead of the trade deadline to bolster their roster to try and compete for a top seed in the East and make a deep playoff run.

76ers Could Target Mavericks’ Anthony Davis to Upgrade Roster
One player the 76ers could target ahead of February’s trade deadline is Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis.

Of course, Davis has been in trade rumors for most of the season with the Mavericks struggling and possibly looking to move some veterans to add more young assets and draft capital to build around Cooper Flagg for the future.
Because of this, Philadelphia may try and land the star big man to pair alongside Embiid, potentially giving them one of the best frontcourt duos in the NBA.

Mock Trade Lands 76ers Anthony Davis for Paul George
In a potential trade, the 76ers could send George, Jared McCain and draft capital to the Mavericks in exchange for Davis and Dante Exum.

While moving on from George and McCain may be a difficult decision for the 76ers to make, swapping them for Davis could work out well for them.
Davis would provide the 76ers with an elite scorer, rebounder and defender who could fit well inside next to Embiid, giving Philadelphia a dominant duo in the frontcourt.

This season, the 32-year-old forward is averaging 21.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.5% from the field and 32.3% from three.
Of course, this trade would be a risky one for the 76ers to make due to Davis’s injury history, along with Embiid’s as well as both players have dealt with multiple injuries over the past handful of seasons.

Despite this, adding Davis to their roster alongside Embiid, Maxey and Edgecombe could make the 76ers into the team to beat in the East this season if their roster is able to stay healthy down the stretch.

While that may be the case, Philadelphia may also look elsewhere to upgrade their roster this season at a cheaper price instead of trying to land another star player.
