Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks regarding his right hamstring strain, the team announced Monday, Dec. 22.
“Still great progress,” Suns coach Jordan Ott said after Monday’s practice before the team announced Green’s update. “I think everything is headed in the right direction.”
The Suns announced Nov. 11 that Green would be re-evaluated in 4-to-6 weeks. They were entering the sixth week of the timeline on Monday when providing an update on Green.
He’s missed Phoenix’s past 18 games. The Suns (15-13) face the Los Angeles Lakers (19-8) on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Mortgage Matchup Center.
Ott also provided an update on Grayson Allen, who has missed Phoenix’s past two games with a right knee injury. Allen is averaging a career-high 16.3 points per game.
Allen is listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s game with right knee injury management.
“He’s doing more and more each day,” Ott said. “There was a little swelling in there just after the last game (Dec. 14) against the Lakers.
“Now that seems to be gone away. Now he’s just working his way back in, but he did most of practice today.”
The Lakers will be without Luka Doncic (lower left leg contusion), Rui Hachimura (right groin soreness) and Gabe Vincent (lumbar back strain). Austin Reaves (left calf strain) is listed as questionable.
“He’s heading in the right direction.”

A career 20-point scorer, Green hasn’t played since Nov. 8, when he reinjured his right hamstring in the first quarter of a 114-103 road win against the Los Angeles Clippers.
He’s played only two games in his first year with the Suns after playing every game in his previous two seasons with the Houston Rockets.
Phoenix acquired Green in the Kevin Durant trade before the 2025 NBA Draft.
Green initially suffered the injury in training camp and aggravated it during the team’s weeklong stay in China for two preseason games against Brooklyn.
Green missed Phoenix’s four preseason games and the first eight games of the regular season before making his Suns debut Nov. 6 against the Los Angeles Clippers at Mortgage Matchup Center.
The explosive guard scored 29 points, making six 3s, the most ever in a Suns debut, as he led Phoenix to a 115-102 win over the Clippers.
Two days later, Green reinjured the hamstring.
The 23-year-old is in his fifth NBA season.
