Michigan State basketball remains stationed as one of the top seeded teams in ESPN’s latest NCAA Tournament bracket projection.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN released his updated bracketology post earlier this week, which yet again had the Spartans landing as a top seed. Lunardi has Michigan State as a No. 3 seed in the West Region in his latest bracket projection.

Michigan State is projected to play No. 14 seed St. Thomas in a first round matchup from Buffalo. If the Spartans were to win their first round matchup, they would play the winner of No. 6 seed St. John’s and No. 11 seeds Butler/Ohio State.

Michigan State is 11-1 overall on the year and 2-0 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have been off this week and will return to action on Monday against Cornell in their final non-conference regular season game.

My Thoughts

Michigan State remains in the same spot as they’ve been for a few weeks, which isn’t surprising considering where we are in the calendar and spot on the schedule. The Spartans, though, have a pair of big-time games coming up in the next two weeks against undefeated Nebraska and a solid USC squad. The results of those two games will surely impact where the Spartans end up in the upcoming Lunardi bracketology updates — and we may finally see them move up to the No. 2 seed line if they can pick up wins in both of those games.
