It has been a great season thus far for the Orlando Magic as they currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 17-13 record.
Of course, the Magic have built a solid young core led by Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Desmond Bane which has them as one of the top teams in the East this season.

The Magic have also been able to overcome injuries to their top players as Banchero, Wagner and Suggs have all missed time this season due to injuries, though it has not had a major impact on Orlando’s play.
With the Magic looking like one of the top teams in the East this season, they may elect to make upgrades to their roster ahead of the trade deadline to try and make a run at the top seed in the conference and also a deep run in the playoffs.
Magic Could Target Kings’ Domantas Sabonis to Upgrade Frontcourt
One area Orlando could look to upgrade ahead of the trade deadline is their frontcourt and while they could try to acquire a big man to bolster their depth, they could also try to add another star to pair alongside their core.

If they choose to try and acquire another star, one player they could target is Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis.
Of course, Sabonis has been in trade rumors this season with the Kings sitting last in the Western Conference standings and if Sacramento does look to move him this season, Orlando may be a team to watch.
Mock Trade Lands Magic Domantas Sabonis for 5 Players
In a potential trade, the Magic could send Wendell Carter Jr., Jonathan Isaac, Jett Howard, Goga Bitadze, Tyus Jones and draft capital to the Kings in exchange for Sabonis and Drew Eubanks.

While this trade would be a risky one for the Magic to make as they would be giving up a ton of roster depth, adding Sabonis to their roster would finally give them a dominant center they have been in need of for multiple seasons.
For Sabonis, he would provide the Magic with an elite scorer and rebounder at the center position and while he does struggle at times defensively, Orlando’s team defense is good enough to make up for it.

This season, the 29-year-old center is averaging 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 51.0% from the field and 20.0% from three.

Adding Sabonis could be exactly what the Magic need in order to make a deep run in the playoffs this season, though it would be a risk with the star big man currently sidelined with a partially torn meniscus.

Despite this, Sabonis would finally give Orlando a dominant center who could fit well alongside the rest of their core and they would also add a solid backup center in Eubanks to replenish some of the depth they would lose in this trade.
While this trade could work out well for the Magic, they may elect to hold off due to the amount of depth they would have to give up, along with Sabonis’s massive contract and injury issues this season.
