The undermanned Memphis Grizzlies showed fight in a road game against Oklahoma City on Dec. 22.

Each time the Thunder tried to pull away, Memphis kept making big shots to keep the game within reach. But its high-level shot-making wasn’t enough to compensate for its 22 turnovers, and the Grizzlies lost 119-103 at Paycom Center.

Memphis had 18 made 3’s, its second-most this season. Six players made multiple 3-pointers, led by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (5-for-6). He and Cedric Coward led Memphis (13-16) with 16 points apiece. Jock Landale had his third double-double of the season.

Caldwell-Pope made a 3-pointer to cut the Thunder’s lead to 101-97 with less than six minutes to go in the game. But OKC closed it out on an 18-6 run.

Oklahoma City (26-3) has won 11 straight in the series against the Grizzlies. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 31 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

The Grizzlies will be back in action Dec. 23 on the road against the Utah Jazz (8 p.m. CT, FanDuel Sports Network).

Memphis is hanging around, but it hasn’t been able to get over the hump against Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies have made 14 3-pointers to hang around, OKC has forced 20 turnovers that have turned into 25 points.
