Bryan Armetta breaks down Friday’s seven-game featured NBA slate to find three undervalued players to slot into your lineups.

Christmas is over, but the NBA isn’t slowing down. Friday’s seven-game featured slate offers up several can’t-miss matchups. That means an array of superstars will take the floor, including Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and Devin Booker. With so many big names to choose from, it’s almost overwhelming for fantasy managers.

Fear not – more choices means more ways to build your lineups. Still, any winning endeavor requires some lower-priced players as well. Here are three under the radar picks this evening in DFS and season-long formats.

PG/SG Jared McCain, Philadelphia 76ers at CHI ($4,700)

To the shock of absolutely no one, injuries abound for the 76ers. Winter illnesses are running rampant in Philly’s locker room, with three different players currently sick. That includes wings Quentin Grimes, VJ Edgecombe and Dominick Barlow. In addition, Joel Embiid is questionable due to right knee management. Add it all up, and the Sixers will likely be short-handed tonight. That means more playing time for some other names on this fairly deep roster. Jared McCain has had a rough go of things this season, even getting sent to the G-League. Over 19 games in the pros, he’s averaging 7.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game (16.0 FPTS).

Those numbers, while disappointing, don’t do justice to McCain’s talents. After all, the former first round pick was a revelation for Philadelphia last season. For all his struggles, the sharpshooter’s 35% field goal percentage suggests positive regression is inevitable. Over his last two games, the Duke alum has gone six-of-22 from the field. However, he’s recorded a total of 14 rebounds, nine assists and five steals during that time. Tonight, Philadelphia will take on a mediocre Bulls defense. If McCain shoots slightly better, while maintaining those counting stats, he should deliver on this salary.

C Moussa Diabate, Charlotte Hornets at ORL ($4,600)

Ryan Kalkbrenner (elbow) is out of action, which leaves the Hornets vulnerable down low. In the rookie’s absence, expect more minutes than usual for Moussa Diabate. The backup center has been a stabilizing presence off of Charlotte’s bench. Through 29 games, he’s posed 7.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks while shooting 62% from the field (22.9 FPTS). That’s despite hovering just around 22 minutes a night. Equipped with more playing time, Diabate could flirt with a double-double.

On Tuesday, with Kalkbrenner sidelined, Diabate tallied 12 points and 18 rebounds vs. Washington (37.5 FPTS). Most important, he logged 36 minutes during that contest. Production will be harder to come by tonight against a stingy, physical Magic squad. When these teams last met on October 30th, Diabate recorded ten points, six rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes (23.0 FPTS). Assuming his workload increases, the 23-year-old has a solid fantasy floor on Friday.

PF/C Luka Garza, Boston Celtics at IND ($3,600)

Front court has been a question mark for the Celtics all year. Fortunately for Boston, Neemias Queta ($5,700) has done a solid job as the team’s starting center. Still, depth remains an issue down low. Offseason acquisition Luka Garza hasn’t been asked to do much this season. Over 21 appearances, he’s notched 6.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.5 blocks. In addition, he’s produced 57/41/77 shooting splits. On paper, those numbers aren’t anywhere close to fantasy relevant.

With that being said, the former second-round pick is beginning to earn more trust from head coach Joe Mazzula. Garza has logged at least 24 minutes over his last two outings. During that time, he’s delivered a combined 54.3 fantasy points. That includes a December 22nd outing against the Pacers, one of basketball’s worst defensive units. The C’s will face Indiana once again on Friday, making this a promising matchup for Garza. Last season’s Eastern Conference champs are allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing centers. Boston’s unheralded backup offers major upside tonight at just $3,600.
