Things are not great with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2025-26 NBA season. They have fallen to a 17-15 record after losing to the New York Knicks on Christmas Day, 126-124. As the pressure mounts, many think it’s time for the Cavaliers to make a change.
The Cavaliers have gone 4-6 over the past 10 games. They’ve taken advantage of opportunities when they face weaker teams. Cleveland has won against the Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans during that stretch. The only team above .500 that they’ve won against is the San Antonio Spurs.

Even so, there have been discussions of the East team changing. One of the people who believes that a change can fix the Cavaliers is former NBA star John Wall.

According to Wall, who talked about the Cavaliers on “NBA on Prime,” the team’s backcourt isn’t getting along. He mentioned that stars Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland need to be part of a “big change.”
“I think they gotta make a big change. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland are just not getting along in that backcourt and I think with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley they’re just too soft,” Wall said.

Amid the Cavaliers’ tumultuous season, they have been surrounded by trade rumors. Both Mitchell and Garland have been part of trade talks this season. Michael Scotto reported that there have been teams monitoring the situation in Cleveland. According to Scotto, teams have started to shoot their shot for a chance to acquire the star shooting guard.
Garland, on the other hand, reportedly wants to move on from Mitchell’s shadow. Senior Writer for DallasHoopsJournal.com, Grant Afseth, reported that the star point guard wants to lead his own group at some point.

With the pressure mounting and continued struggles, the Cavaliers still haven’t expressed their preference to trade any of their core players.
