The Golden State Warriors’ 2025-26 season has been choppier than expected.
Despite boasting three future Hall of Famers — Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green — Golden State sits at a middling 16-15 and well outside the Western Conference’s true elite.
The message is clear: this version of the Warriors isn’t enough.
According to Chris Haynes of Prime Video (via Underdog NBA), Golden State may be eyeing a blockbuster — and risky — solution: a trade for Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis.
“Today I found something very interesting. I came on last week and I told you what the Warriors are looking for: they’re looking for a big man, rim-running big man [who can] protect the paint, lob threat. I was told [the Warriors] are contemplating making a case to acquire Anthony Davis,” Haynes said.
“And so, with that being said, I was told that Dallas is not that fascinated with what Golden State has on its books. If the Golden State Warriors want to make a true play at Anthony Davis, they would likely have to acquire some more assets or involve another team.
“The Warriors are really trying to figure out ways to assure themselves that they have a defensive, dominant starting center to help Stephen Curry and Draymond Green out for a championship push.”
Davis, 32, remains one of the league’s most impactful big men — when healthy.
That qualifier matters because injuries have become a recurring issue, with Davis seemingly sidelined every other week.
In 16 games this season, Davis is averaging 20.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in roughly 30 minutes per night — elite production that would instantly address Golden State’s biggest weakness.
