Josh Giddey isn’t the only former OKC Thunder player that’s giving the franchise a bad case of the “What could have beens” in 2025-26, as Vít Krejci currently finds himself lighting it up out in Atlanta with the Hawks.
Now three full seasons removed from the deal that shipped him away in exchange for a 2029 second-round pick and Mo Harkless, it’s quite clear that Oklahoma City currently seems to have received the short end of the stick.
This narrative was only further strengthened in Bobby Marks’ latest piece for ESPN, as the front office insider tabbed Krejci as a member of his NBA All-Value Team.
Former OKC Thunder guard Vít Krejci named to ‘NBA All-Value Team’
Just a few short seasons ago, Krejci found himself attached to a mere two-way contract and barely clinging to his hopes of sticking around in the NBA.
Now, in his fifth year in the states, the point guard is playing through a true breakout season.
From his cost-efficient salary to his success rate shooting from beyond the arc, there’s a ton to be envious about when it comes to Atlanta’s rostering of Krejci.
Logging 23.6 minutes a night, Krejci is dropping impressive and highly efficient averages of 10.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and a whopping 47.7 percent from distance.
This, attached to a mere four-year, $10.2 million deal, is undoubtedly deserving of being in the running for biggest bargain contract in the entire association.
And the Thunder gave this kind of value away for next to nothing.
Now, of course, hindsight is always 20/20. On top of this, considering the fact that they sport the top record in the association at 26-5 and are the odds-on favorites to become the first repeat NBA Champion in nearly a decade, it’s hard to argue that they’re missing Krejci’s services all that much.
However, with their payroll as currently constructed, and key backcourt talents such as Lu Dort potentially pricing themselves out of the Sooner State, having an abundance of low-cost, high-production players waiting in the reserves is always a plus.
Luckily, the Thunder have their fare share of such commodities already with the likes of Cason Wallace, Ajay Mitchell, and Isaiah Joe, though more is always better, leaving Sam Presti and company left thinking about the “what if” scenarios had they held onto the Czech guard just a little while longer.
