New York Knicks do-it-all forward Josh Hart will miss at least the next three games with a right sprained ankle, according to league sources.
Hart suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of New York’s Christmas Day victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hart, per league sources, is still undergoing further tests and will be re-evaluated when the Knicks return from a three-game road trip that begins in Atlanta on Saturday and ends in San Antonio on Wednesday.
The Knicks are 11-3 since Hart was inserted into the starting lineup in late November. He is enjoying his best 3-point accuracy since his rookie season, converting 38.9 percent of his 4.0 average attempts per game. With an average of eight rebounds per game, Hart is one of the best non-center rebounders in the NBA. He’s averaged at least eight rebounds per game for the last three seasons.
New York will also miss Hart’s ability to push the pace in transition as the Knicks struggle to consistently play fast.
With that said, Miles McBride is likely to return Monday for the Knicks’ game in New Orleans after missing nine games with an ankle sprain. Per league sources, Landry Shamet, who injured his shoulder on Dec. 22, is continuing rehab and doing full, on-court basketball activities, per league sources. Shamet is progressing well, those sources said, and is working toward contact.
