HOUSTON — In their first home game after an extended six-game road trip, the Rockets took care of business in Saturday’s emphatic 117-100 victory (box score) over the Cavaliers.
Houston (19-10) is now 9-1 in its last 10 games at Toyota Center, while Cleveland (17-16) has lost five of its last seven, overall. With the win, the Rockets moved up from No. 6 to No. 4 in the Western Conference standings.

With Alperen Sengun sidelined with left calf tightness, Kevin Durant took on an even higher workload and delivered. In under three quarters (29 game minutes), Durant finished with a game-high 30 points and 7 assists on 11-of-17 shooting (64.7%), including 2-of-4 from 3-point range (50.0%).
The perennial NBA All-Star and future Hall of Famer also made 6-of-7 from the free-throw line (85.7%).
After struggling defensively for much of December, the Rockets held an opponent to 100 or fewer points for a second straight game. (They were similarly dominant in Thursday’s 119-96 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.)

Tari Eason: 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals; 3-of-6 shooting (50.0%), 2-of-3 on 3-pointers (66.7%)
Donovan Mitchell (Cavs): 16 points, 6 assists; 7-of-17 shooting (41.2%)
Jaylon Tyson (Cavs): 23 points, 15 rebounds (8 offensive); 10-of-20 shooting (50.0%)
“I rarely say this, but this game was over in the first quarter,” Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson said postgame (via Kelly lIko, Yahoo! Sports). “We weren’t ready for the fight.”
Houston’s two-game Toyota Center homestand concludes with Monday’s visit from the Indiana Pacers (6-25). Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised regionally on Space City Home Network (SCHN) and nationally via NBA League Pass.
