Syracuse has a strong 11-1 record heading into the proper start of ACC play. The Orange has already beaten one ACC opponent with their 78-69 win over SMU earlier in December, and they are coming off a staggering 106-40 win over Mercyhurst before the holiday break.

Uche Izoje had double digits before the end of the first quarter, and finished with her second consecutive double-double for the season (23 points, 11 rebounds). She led five SU players with double digits for the game: Sophie Burrows (12), Maddy Potts (11), Kiera Scott (10) and Shy Hawkins.

Scott added 10 rebounds for her own double-double, the first time two players have had a double-double in the same game for the Orange this season. The Orange also topped 100 points in a game for the first time since playing Niagara in November of 2024. At the same time, they managed to hold an opponent to under 50 points for the sixth time this season.

All of which sets an optimistic tone for their big clash with Duke at the JMA Wireless Dome the weekend after Christmas. The Blue Devils are 6-6 overall this season, with notable losses against ranked foes like #2 South Carolina (83-66) and #3 UCLA (89-59). Just like the Orange, Duke also played one early ACC game, but theirs was against Virginia Tech. Duke won 70-54. Duke historically dominates the matchup against Syracuse, with a 10-3 record dating to 1995.
