Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry saluted his Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, by lacing up the ANTA KT 11 “Christmas” sneaker in the Warriors’ Christmas Day matchup against Thompson’s Dallas Mavericks.
Curry, currently a sneaker free agent after ending his decade-long partnership with Under Armour earlier this year, chose to don Thompson’s signature Anta sneaker in Thompson’s second trip back to the Bay Area since leaving as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

“It was great. It was really cool,” Thompson said after Golden State’s 126-116 win. “Wish he didn’t get a win in ’em, but it was awesome. A lot of respect.”
Curry had some fun with a question from a reporter when asked if it was safe to assume there was some intent behind his shoe choice of the day.
“No,” Curry said, in an answer dripping with sarcasm. “I just happened to randomly found some Anta Klay Thompson 11’s lying around in the back. Just thought I’d wear ’em and they happened to be my size. It was pretty cool.”
When asked earlier in the week about his Christmas Day sneaker plans, Curry said he “had some great ideas.”
While Curry donned Thompson’s shoes during the game, it was not his only sneaker tribute of the day. He arrived to Thursday’s game wearing Kobe Bryant’s “Yellow Toe” Player Exclusive edition of Allen Iverson’s iconic Reebok Question, then warmed up in his original Nike Hyperdunk 2010 Christmas Private Edition, which featured his first Nike “SC30” logo on the tongue.
Since Curry and Under Armour announced the end of their 12-year partnership in November, Curry has been paying homage to past and present NBA players by wearing sneakers from rival brands like Nike, PUMA, Reebok and Adidas. Curry wore Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton’s salmon pink signature shoe on Nov. 26 to commemorate the release of the Puma Hali 1 “Hibiscus.”
When the Warriors hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this month, Curry wore two pairs of Anthony Edwards’ Adidas signature shoe. After warming up in the Adidas AE 1 “CLOT” Low, Curry donned the Anthony Edwards 2 in the “Blue Fusion” colorway during the game. Haliburton and Edwards were both Curry’s teammates on the 2024 US Olympic team.
As possibly the biggest sneaker free agent ever, Curry has the potential to garner one of the largest shoe contracts in history. The final version of his Curry Brand line with Under Armour will release in February 2026.
