Tuesday’s top games, betting preview
It’s a pretty light sports schedule on Tuesday, but among the four NBA games is a cross-conference matchup between the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pistons (24-8) have lost consecutive games but still are just ahead of the New York Knicks in the East standings. The Lakers (20-10) are trying to keep pace in the Western Conference and sit fifth overall, but lead the Pacific Division. Luka Doncic is leading the league in scoring (33.7 per game) and is fourth in assists (8.6), but the Lakers lost three in a row before beating Sacramento 125-101 on Sunday. Detroit’s Cade Cunningham is second in the league in assists (9.6) and leads the Pistons at 26.5 points per game. Detroit won seven of eight before the recent two-game slide and is a 2.5-point road favorite. The three college bowl games get started with Coastal Carolina vs. Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl at 2 p.m. ET. Louisiana Tech is a 10.5-point favorite, but the SportsLine model has the Chanticleers covering a whopping 68% of the time, earning the pick a B grade. The Music City Bowl at 5:30 p.m. ET is a matchup between 8-4 teams Tennessee and Illinois, with the Volunteers 3.5-point favorites and covering in 61% of simulations. The nightcap sees No. 16 USC vs. TCU in the Alamo Bowl at 9 p.m. ET. The Trojans (9-3) have won four of their past five and are favored by 6 points over the Horned Frogs (8-4).
