The G League’s OKC Blue couldn’t close it out in the second half in a 102-90 loss to the Mexico City Capitanes on Tuesday. The home defeat dropped their record to 1-4 on the season.

Things were even to start. Both teams were tied at 21 points apiece after the first quarter. The offense ticked up for the Blue in the second with 29 points. They created a double-digit lead over the Capitanes with a 50-38 halftime advantage because of it.

It didn’t take long for that to melt away. The Blue only scored 21 points in the third frame. Mexico City scored the final 12 points of the quarter to flip the scoreboard. Before you knew it, OKC was in a 74-71 deficit.

Keeping it within a couple of possessions, the Capitanes were able to stiff-arm the Blue on the scoreboard for the rest of the way. In the end, they eventually ballooned their lead to double-digit points. OKC only had 19 points in the final frame.

The Blue shot 40% from the field and went 12-of-37 (32.4%) from 3. They shot 6-of-9 on free throws. They had 22 assists on 34 baskets. Five Blue players scored double-digit points.

Meanwhile, the Capitanes shot 39% from the field and went 13-of-38 (34.2%) from 3. They shot 11-of-12 on free throws. They had 20 assists on 34 baskets. Six Capitanes players scored double-digit points.
