Holding the No. 3 pick in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers need to be sure they get this selection right. Coming off a miserable 2024-25 season, the Sixers need an injection of youth to the roster as they continue to push forward toward their first title since 1983.
The Sixers have an elite star trio in Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey that can win if they stay healthy. Obviously, that’s a big if when considering the injury history of both Embiid and George, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re both fantastic players.
With that being said, the Sixers need some youth. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey admitted to his mistakes after the season finale back on April 13 saying the roster needs some younger pieces and he appears focused on that goal.
Morey was seen among a number of executives around the league at the Klutch pro day for the 2025 draft prospects. One name that stands out is Duke big man Khaman Maluach who could be an option for Philadelphia. Especially, if the Sixers trade down.
The Sixers have plenty of options to turn to in this draft. At No. 3, there are plenty of options for them to choose from while also having the option to trade down and still selecting a pretty good player due to how deep this draft is. Either way, Morey and his staff are clearly doing their due diligence on every option.
