Portland Trail Blazers’ Jrue Holiday (X)
The Portland Trail Blazers are inching closer to reinforcements, starting with Jrue Holiday.
The veteran guard is progressing well from a right calf strain and has been cleared for on-court basketball activities, the team confirmed Thursday. Holiday’s return will now depend on how his body responds in the coming days.
Holiday, 35, has been sidelined for 22 straight games and has appeared in just 12 contests this season. When available, he has been productive, averaging 16.7 points, 8.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds in his first year with Portland.
The Blazers also provided updates on several other key names:
Jerami Grant is considered day-to-day with left Achilles tendonitis. The 31-year-old has missed seven games but is traveling with the team on its current three-game road trip. Grant is averaging 20.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 26 games this season.Matisse Thybulle continues his recovery after left thumb ligament surgery suffered in late October. While he has been gradually increasing activity, the defensive specialist is also dealing with a right knee tendon issue. Thybulle averaged 5.0 points and 2.5 steals in four games before going down.Scoot Henderson remains out after a left hamstring injury sustained in July. The 21-year-old has begun non-contact on-court work and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Since being selected third overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Henderson has averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds across 128 career games.
Currently sitting at 14-20, Portland continues its road swing with matchups against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, hopeful that reinforcements are finally on the horizon.
