The Golden State Warriors got crushed on Friday night. That was not surprising. After all, they were hosting the defending-champion Oklahoma City Thunder, and playing without Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton, and Jonathan Kuminga. A blowout was always going to happen, and a blowout did, indeed, occur, with OKC notching a 131-94 victory.

Here’s a look at how Warriors fans reacted to the action as it unfolded, as seen through the comments in the Golden State of Mind game thread.

First quarter: ‘The route is on’

It was all Thunder from the get-go, as they had an early 10-0 run, and led 34-23 after one quarter.

Let’s get this win!!!

CaptainKlay

Are we actually watching this one tho

Syphon23

Andd the route is on.

OhCoolStoryBruh

The amazon scoreboard kinda sucks imo, nothing to show TOs or fouls.

Salt

I’ll take a Warrior loss for a 9er win.

Second quarter: ‘Defense is really good’

Behind inspired performances from Will Richard and Brandin Podziemski, the Dubs went on a 9-0 run early in the second to make the game close. Unfortunately, OKC answered with 19 unanswered points, and led 64-45 at the break.

If Curry was “refereed” like SGA the Warriors would alway be favourites to win the championship… These referees are ridiculous.

Right now our guys are playing like they’re reading some of these comments lol

SmallBallDoesntWork

Defense is really good so far.

Hopefully the Ws can shoot better in the 2nd half.

Third quarter: ‘Oof’

The Warriors never made a comeback in the third quarter. It was a blowout all the way, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powering the Thunder to a 95-66 lead entering the final frame.

Brytonball

The guards sans Podz, Curry, Spencer and Will are really expendable.

Oof. Maybe not time to hand the keys to the kids just yet. “Scrubsanity” is just a bunch of scrubs

Just need Trayce to train with someone on an offensive game. It can open doors if he figured that out. Someone like Bosh, David West

Fourth quarter: ‘The players we have are trash without Steph, Dray and Jimmy’

The Thunder rested their starters for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Warriors, of course, rested their starters before the game even began. It was a highly uneventful final 12 minutes.

The only NBA players among Warriors I see on court today are Moody, Podz & Horford, and may be Richard.

So basically the players we have are trash without Steph, Dray and Jimmy Butler? This is ugly.

Splashalishous

Man, so disappointing, at 8:23 Richards gets us to within 5 (after TJD’s tough 2). That group was TJD, GP2, Richard, Moody and Podz; then Spencer/Buddy replace Podz/Moody and Richard hits a 3 at 7:16 to get the deficit to 2 pts (38-36). Other than not liking 4G line ups, at least the 1st one only had Podz as a weak defender, when we have Spencer and Buddy there are too many holes… By 5:32 lead back up to 8. Then line up switch to double big Al/Post and 3 guards – Podz, Buddy, Spencer and by 4:12 down by 14 (switch Moody for Buddy). Then another switch around 3 min mark replacing Post with Gui. Then Post for Al at about 1:30.

Comments: while the Warriors are never realistically winning this with their 3 main guys out, I was looking to see if the couching staff were going to run more intelligent substitutions. The 4G line ups usually lead to runs by the opponent as it did here. Having 2 minus defenders on the floor at the same time is bad. It seems like the line up gets jerked around with very frequently. Not sure how anyone gets into rythm this way.

Richard looked awesome out there.

Today’s game was like stealing candy from a baby. For OKC, of course.
