What to know about Knicks vs. Pistons game on Peacock NBA Monday

Now that we’re into 2026, we’re starting to get a sense of which teams to watch at the top of the playoff standings, and right now New York and Detroit are definitely two of those teams. They’ve been battling each other for Eastern Conference supremacy for weeks now, with the Pistons putting up great numbers (including a stellar record at home) and the Knicks proving their mettle with a victory in the 2025 NBA Cup.

The Knicks, led by Jalen Bruson and Karl-Anthony Towns, have one of the league’s best offenses, with Towns in particular standing out as one of the game’s best rebounders so far this season. The Pistons, meanwhile, have one of the league’s best defenses, and one of the best point differentials in the NBA. Led by Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren, they put together a great early season campaign. Now, it’s a race to see who can take the lead in the East when it matters most, and while the Knicks are certainly formidable, the home court advantage gives the Pistons the slight edge in the first matchup between these teams this season.
