Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is out against the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 4 due to a right calf contusion.

Morant was added to the injury report on Jan.3, a day after the Grizzlies lost 128-121 against the Lakers in their previous matchup.

In the game, Morant was seen grabbing at his right calf and limping multiple times. He battled through the injury and finished with 16 points and 11 assists.

This isn’t the first time Morant has dealt with a calf injury. He suffered a Grade 1 right calf strain in a Nov. 15 matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He missed 10 games and returned on Dec. 12.

Morant has missed 16 games this season. In 18 appearances, he’s averaging 19 points and 7.6 assists per game.

Cam Spencer and Javon Small are two options at point guard.

Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama was also questionable to play with right ankle soreness, but he will be available.
