With the NBA draft withdrawal deadline just days away (May 29), the college basketball world is bracing for a wave of pivotal stay-or-go decisions. At the center of it all for the Florida Gators is one name: Alex Condon.

The 6-foot-11-inch sophomore forward was a cornerstone of Florida’s 2025 national championship run, averaging 10.4 points, a team-best 7.5 rebounds and 49 blocks. His return would be crucial for this Gators basketball squad looking to win back-to-back titles.

Should Condon return to Gainesville, he’ll headline a reloaded starting lineup that includes Boogie Fland, Xaivian Lee, Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu. That core would make Florida a serious contender next season under head coach Todd Golden.

ESPN included Condon in their list of players whose NBA draft withdrawal decision could impact college basketball. This is everything ESPN writer Jeff Borzello said about the Australian native.

What ESPN said about Condon’s impact

“After Boogie Fland committed to the Gators, all eyes in Gainesville turned toward Condon. Should Condon return to Florida, the “repeat” talk could officially begin; if he opts to stay in the draft, coach Todd Golden has the frontcourt depth to make it work.

“Still, a starting five of Fland, Condon, Xaivian Lee, Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu would be elite for the defending national champions.

“Condon opted not to participate in the 5-on-5 scrimmage portion of the combine, so there wasn’t a huge opportunity for his stock to move dramatically in one direction or the other. The 6-foot-11 forward slotted in at No. 38 in ESPN’s latest mock draft, and most of the intel surrounding Condon suggests he is more likely to return to college.”
